Daylight-Saving Time Ends Sunday
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(AP) Leaves are turning and falling, heaters are crankin', and footballs are flyin'.

All of this means it's time once again to fall back and say goodbye to daylight-saving time.

And it happens this weekend.

Clocks shift back one hour at 2 a.m. Sunday local time in most parts of the country. (Hawaii, Arizona and most of Indiana do not observe daylight-saving time.) That will give an extra hour of sleep to most people Sunday morning -- and an extra hour of work to those who work the overnight shift.

The change to standard time also means it will be dark an hour earlier on Halloween, calling for extra caution on the part of drivers and those watching children on their candy rounds.

Fire safety officials say this also is a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors.

Daylight-saving time returns April 4, 2004.
