when to enlist

Hello Marines.
I am planning on enlisting in the next few months and I am interested in the 18xx MOS and was wondering if it would be a better idea to wait till October when the new fiscal year starts or would I have just as good of a chance now? Thanks

It would be safe to say that you have a good chance at getting what you want right now. 1800 falls under the CE (Combat Support) Program Option. The key is going to be when you can ship to Recruit Training, Programs are assigned according to your ship date.

The way we do things here is to assign all upcoming FY MOS's on a first come first serve basis. Everyone who enlist but will not be shipping until the next FY gives us their top 3 choices on what MOS's they want. Once we receive the list of what is available we begin with the guys that enlisted first and then go from there. If you wait until October the program that you want may no longer be available to you.

My advice it to enlist now so you have first dibs on what program you want.
