Yeah..I know..an old guy trying to re-live the past.

Anyway, it took me a while to remember how to strip and clean.
Sad but true. Sighted it in with the open sights at about 50 meters.
Had a decent group at 100 meters.

Heres where my son comes in..LOL.

He wants a scope with a red dot (WTF) on top so we bought one.

Now we have three freaking things to sight in.

We got the scope with the red dot thing..what a PIA.

Long story short...I told him to ditch the red dot thing and go get
JUST a decent scope to mount on the rifle. Then we'll sight it in
to hit a deer in the eye at 100 meters..or more.

We ain't killin no people..<SMILE> yet...LOL<SMILE>

Hes a little disappointed he can't have the xbox ****..but..
my opinion is if it takes 200 rounds of ammo to sight in..then
another 200 rounds to keep all that **** sighted in..its a PIA.

Why not just use the iron sights/open sites it comes with?

We are. You can use the iron sights also. He just wanted a scope with a dot.

Not a bad concept...but to me it just clutters the weapon
and more things to go wrong. I have heard that Marines
are being issued optics now so there must be some benefit.

Can anyone recommend something that is econonmical "cheap" that works.

This is what is being issued these days, http://lib.store.yahoo.net/lib/opticsplanet/acog-info.jpg

Not a bad sight to use but I'll always prefer iron over optics

I don't know how things are in your state but most will not allow anything below 30 cal for deer.

Just carry a box of 5.56 in your pocket to show the game warden, hide the .50 cal. :D

We can use 223 for deer here.

The trijicon does seem cool though.

Gonna go sight it in now.
