One of the things that we do in my local Marine Corps League is we have an informal gathering where we will stand in a circle, grasp hands, and go around two, three, or four times, each person mentioning the name of one, two, or three Marines who are no longer with us. We limit it to no more than three at a time in order to keep the process moving. We end with a prolonged moment of silence for those not mentioned.

I would ask that we take the next 24 hours to do the same in this thread.

Post the names of lost comrades, no more than three per post. Come back multiple times if you need to, in order to list those that you had / have a personal connection to that are no longer with us.

I'll start:

In Memoriam:
2nd Lt. Jack Kerner
LCpl Chris Dyer
Capt. Mike Browne

Somewhat emotional for me......but I'm in.

Floyd Wayne Hamilton - W/2/11 - KIA 5/23/66 during a night firefight.
Panel 07E - Line 105
We hooked up in Jan. '66 with W/2/11 at Pendleton.
Mild-mannered, geek type that one could not help but like.

Thomas Frank Presby - I/3/5 - KIA 7/24/66 on Op Hastings at Hill 362.
Panel 09E - Line 071
We went through boot camp and ITR together then got split up.
Saw my *joining up* buddy (also I/3/5) at an LZ while on Op Colorado (early Aug. '66) and he told me 'Presby got it'.

I have a couple pics of Presby which I may add to my profile.
I have no pics of Hamilton unless someone I've just made contact with might have some....I'll remain hopeful on this.

I'll be honest.....if I think of these Brothers too long my glasses get a little fogged up.

Carry on.....

Brandon was my high school sweet heart. I wanted to stab the recruiters that constantly tried to take him away. We parted ways on good terms. I ended up enlisting and walked in the door during recruiter's assistance to see him in a chair. He never made his ship date. I went onto the fleet and three years later got the dreaded call he had been killed in a terrible car accident. Him and two or three others. I never knew he joined. I recruited him. Carried that for a long time. I wish I would have at least had 1 hour to talk about the Corps together. He loved it and so do I.
