Okay there seems to be some confusion and debate on the difference between reservist on active duty and active duty points. Techanically when reservist are activated and are on a deployment, or on drill status they are 'active duty'. So if a Marine has to leave half way through the quarter (reservist get promoted quarterly not every month), Does he recieve the same amount of points toward promotion? If so how many points are given to Marines while on reserve status/and or active duty?

Long story short one of our Marines has had to leave(red cross emergency) and another might be following. With being a hand full of points shy of promotion these questions have been discussed and are not 100% sure due to mix match of active duty and reservist. Any help is appreciated. Thanks and Semper

I'm not clear on what you are asking. There are points that contribute to cutting score for promtion such as self education, marksmanship, fitness, etc. There are also retirement points: active duty and inactive duty. Mob'd reservists get active duty points. Reservists that drill get inactive duty points. These points go to having sat retirement years, not promotion. Does that answer your questions?

Besides the pft, marksmanship, and education aren't there 15(not sure thats the right amount) points put towards the cutting score Sir?

You get something like 21 points a quarter for TIS/TIG. It doesn't matter whether active or reserve, you still get the same amount of cutting score points.
