Hello everyone,

I am in the process of getting a medical separation from the reserves because of my combat related ptsd and tbi. I have heard that I get free medical insurance when I get out. Do I get a tricare option? Or is it through another medical insurance provider? Thanks guys.

Note: I am rated at 80% VA and 50% DOD

You will be able to use the VA and you should have tri-care(not sure as reserve) They should tell you before you sign any thing get you question answered before you sign.

It would depend on the reserve issues.
If you get 100% from VA yes if not no.

Interesting! Whenever you are dealing with an emergency surgical treatment, you will have to pay medical expenditures right away. There is no time to save. This is even true of military members who are not on duty. Insurance is good, but it is not always enough money. Luckily, military payday loans (http://personalmoneynetwork.com/moneyblog/2010/01/14/online-military-payday-loans/) are available for situations like this when fast cash is needed.

if you are 50% by DOD, you should be getting retired, not separated. If you are retired, you will have Tricare. At 80% VA, you will have VA care for anything, but your wife and child do not have anything from VA....
