Hey all, I had a question. My fiance and I are both deploying this year with separate reserve units (basically we got lucky that it was the same time frame) and were trying to figure out the benefits of possibly getting legally married and using the money to pay for a wedding when we get back.
If we did get married, even though we are both deployed, would we get to claim eachother as a dependent? What about separations pay or other allowances. There is a 1K net difference a month with dependents vs no dependents, and that is more than enough to cover a wedding and honeymoon, but I don't feel it is worth the hassle otherwise.
