That's no joke..... an 8.8 Quake just hit Japan, and a major Tsunami warning / alert is in effect for Hawaii (and probably even the West Coast)..... Hope all our Marines and service members there are ok.... oh yeah and hopefully no Japanese people got killed either.... Stay safe everyone.

Yeah, really does. That is a HUGE quake! Can't believe the got hit that bad. Do you know what part of the islands got hit? I've got some buddies out there...hope they're ok.

Just off the coast of Honshu, said a good portion of the East Coast of the island got hit. Guess Sendai and Tokyo got hit pretty bad. Also the Navy Base at Yokosuka has been affected pretty bad according to some people I know out there. CNN is saying its now a 8.9..... wtf.

Damn man...If you find out anything more on the situation hit me up in a PM, I would greatly appreciate it. I will try to get a hold of some of my boys, but with the quake who knows if I will be able to. Most of them are in Oki.

Okinawa is on a tsunami alert now. They said the wave is going to hit Oki within the next few hours...
Well, I'm in Hawaii, and we haven't heard anything. Sucks for Oki, though. Hope nothing happens, I have plenty of acquaintances there.

Buddy of mine at Hansen just told me that there are tsunami sirens blaring all over Oki and the tsunami is supposed to hit the island at around 1745...

Yeah, just spoke to my Uncle on the Big Island. He's moving to higher ground. Prayers go out.
And now they evacuated some of the family housing closest to the water.
In other news, every grunt on base is going crazy. We went to the store, and saw a family getting supplies. Everyone else? Beer and floaties. Guess even impending doom won't stop 03s from acting stupid. Saw a couple running with surf boards, even.

Sounds like the old typhoon parties that we used to have on Oki, although this is much more serious. I'll never forget seeing guys with Recon jumping off the third floor of the barracks in a typhoon with nothing but poncho's to grab some air.... crazy.

Canadian news says naval base is pretty much totalled.......may god keep all the service men and women safe........don't know where u are gunrunw but stay safe...

.....I spent some memorible months in Yokusaka Naval Hospital, in 1969. The Doc's there saved my left leg, and my left arm.
Prayers out to all in need. I'll light a couple of candles today. Bless them ALL.......

Been watching CNN and they been hit hard in Japan,does,t look good.prayers out to our service men and women there and the people in Japan.
And his wife Emily just reported to Oki about 10 days ago, She is my pastor's daughter.
Prayers to ALL in that area and west coast of Ca. Moz

Many people are dead & injured from this disaster and some people think the sirens are a joke. If this person had family or friends who were in or near all the destruction, I wonder if it would still be a joke.

Well apparently all US personnel were accounted for. They also said on CNN there was no major damage to any bases or ships. They were showing civilian airliners landing at Yokota Air Base because Tokyo-Narita's Runway was damaged apparently.

Got news of this last night, headed for much higher ground with family in tow, turned out to be right thing to do as wave approx. 6' washed up to about 1/2 mile from my house. water and sewers down most of morning but fortunately no injuries reported. Just heard another 6.7 or so quake just happened a little while ago? Prayers out for all in the danger zones, especially our service members in Japan, Okinawa, and surrounding areas.

New news from CNN and CTV tokyo was not hit by the tsunami but were hit with the quake
a nuclear reactor is on fire but we have just landed some coolant to help them out.
