As of today I have offically been out of the Marine Corps longer than I was in the Marine Corps. Any advice I give to youngsters from here on out will be based on experiences from times before they were born.

Thirty seven years since I had my retirement parade.

Been collecting that check every month come hell or high water.

Sure does not seem that long ago, but then again I don't remember much of the 1980's, because of that damn guy Jack Daniels.

Bob you're only 46. That makes you an OFIT (Old Fart in Training). It gets better with age. Well, no it doesn't but the alternatives really s$ck

Here is a test to see if you are actually old:

Go to an open area.
Lay down.
See if you can get on your feet without using something to pull you up.
If you can get up, you are not old.
If you cannot, then welcome to the "Old Farts Club."

Dang Covey I joined 26 years ago and got out 13 years ago. How old did you say you were again? ;)

I mean who knows...maybe it was the reason you got out. It's OK thought, they did away with "don't ask don't tell" so now you should be good to try and go back in!

:) :) :)

It's certainly possible. Me, I was born in '69 and my oldest will be turning 15 in a few weeks......so no grandkids for quite some time (HOPEFULLY!!).

In my situation, it's been the case for about 5 years now that I've been in the Corps longer than I haven't.
