View Full Version : Good start to a career, eh?
So I was scheduled to fly down to Jacksonville, NC today, and check into SOI east tomorrow morning, but due to that ***** mother nature, my flight was canceled and the next available flight gets me there at 2100, 8 hours after I was supposed to check in... Anyone else with these experience's?
Call the duty officer and CYA. You can't control mother nature but you can control your destiny. Call in and make damn sure you document everything.
I did, I spoke to a LCpl and he told me to see the OOD asap after landing.
Document the LCpl's name, time of call, etc. While it is typically not acceptable to any Marine, I always reported 24 hours early to make damn sure weather didn't get in the way.
Sometimes a bit of paranoia helps to keep you out of trouble.
Call the duty officer first off this morning
explain your situation,
Document who you speak with.
Not that i was asked before it happened,,
Young Marines learn, checking in early does a couple things.
FIRST on the list , you save the worry of being UA .
Especially when your return date is on a weekend. IF you had checked in
on Friday afternoon, you would have had two days off to scout the area, grab a good bunk, and find your way around.
Thanks, I will remember this all for later reference in the fleet!
