We had a guy in our platoon back in '54.He was a member of the Hitler Youth Group in Germany. They branded them in those days. He got in but it was a different world then, different set of values. The Corps didn't care where you came from they only cared if you were willing to kill

I always am amazed at the dudes who really, really, want to be Nazis who don't do a bit of research...
At MINIMUM, to gain entrance into the SS, you had to have:
Clear 'racial' background to 1742
No cavities in your teeth
115 on IQ
5-10 minimum height
Pass Gestapo Background check as well as the family research check, above
Graduate of (equivlant) High school, usually with higher grades.
There are more but they escape me at the moment.
The average workday for these guys was 12 hours (as it was for MOST all military recruits in those days) and it was sheer physical labor, studying (Imagine having to write a paper on 'National Socialist Theory' after 8 hours of drill and combat training, then have it graded for grammar, content, and proper thought), polishing boots, cleaning weapons, etc.
Most of the 'nazi wannabees' wouldn't make it past 'day one' and likely as not been in the 393rd Mess Kit Repair Battalion of the Volksturm, or one of the Labor Battalions building roads. The closest they would get to the SS is when they stood alongside a parade of 'em.
