just wondering if anybody knows the answer to my question? Im an IRR marine that wants to finish school, currently im studying aviation and wanted to know if there was a possibility of LAT moving into the 7257 mos but joining a reserve unit instead of going active again?

I have no idea if I am speaking out of my ass.

But I have had Marines tell me that they've went to a reserve unit and joined as a non-obligated reservist in the IRR. Im not sure how it works, but that may be your first step.

You certainly can. All you need to do is find a reserve unit that has that MOS. You will need to go to the MOS school. Contact a prior service recruiter for help. You can also earn retirement credits and get "sat" years while in the irr by doing temporary duties and by doing mci and marinenet courses. You can go to mcmap school for 2 weeks for example. Check out mobcom website for info. Good luck and message me if you have other questions.
