Bald Eagle lovers......

Take a look at this streaming live cam. It is set up at the Botanical Gardens here in Virginia Beach. Actually I believe it falls in the Norfolk city limits. She recently layed an egg.

This is the second time they have done this when an Eagle sits on her nest. I am a big Bald Eagle fan so this is cool to check out from time to time.

gonna have to do some web surfing tonight. I read an article yrs ago about Bald Eagles in Alaska. There was a place where they migrate to every year when the fish are running up a shallow stream. Thousands of Eagles are within a few mile stretch of the stream. Maybe they have some sort of web cams set up for that also.

As for the numbers..... They have increased a lot over the past few years. Had a lot of people worried there for a while.

Thanks for the site! Alaska, ah yes. That is where I learned how to focus my old 35mm camera on moving objects. I took my best Bald Eagle pictures there. I'm not sure about the place where there would be a mass gathering unless they are talking about Homer. If there was a capital for Bald Eagles, Homer would be it.

Don't recall the name of the area. Will have to see if I can find the article. Kept that magazine. The village has somewhere between 200 and 300 Eagles that live there year round also. Want to make that trip one of these days.

Jeff thankyou for the post. I have been watching the back of my place for several years now as from time to time we get a pair of Goldens as well as Baldy's nesting in the woods here. But I have been reading in the local news where the Feds are investigating the killing of a Baldy here. Causes me to want to go looking for the t*rds who did this myself.

You can look up "Lake Pepin Eagles" they tend to congregate there during the winter. I see bald eagles almost every day flying along the lakes shoreline.In the city it is hard to see any rabbits,the feral cats are mostly lunch for eagles most of the year.

At my willow creek farm during the winter months there are always 4-6 Bald Eagles siting in some old dead cotton wood trees.

Yep they're like turkey buzzards but bolder, and not as smart. Sometimes in high country when they've been on patrol and the clouds or fog sneak in and have them grounded, they roost on bare ground right out in the open. I suppose they could be ambushed but i haven't seen that. They do get poached though, i've seen that.

At Lake Buchanan in the Texas Hill Country. They have tours to see the Eagles that nest in the cliffs there. Very beautiful.

Just wanted to bring this back up. The three eggs have hatched. If you looki below the video square, you will find a section labelled "Eagle Cam Slideshow". There are pictures in there showing the new additions to the Bald Eagle community in our area.

This is pretty awsome to be able to see such a great sight. Keep in mind these Eagles are in the wild and not locked in some cage. Free as they all should be.
