I wonder how effectively the problem would be addressed if it was part and parcel of local law if their city ordinances allowed IMPOUNDING the vehicle for varying lengths as a result of a DUI conviction?

While this would probably not be practical for very large cities, it would seem that cities of 100,000 and smaller could see some positive results with little effort.

And since ALL communities have pretty reliable data on alcohol-related events accumulated over time, it would not take long to see if a trend is developing or not. Just wondering.

When I was in Japan back in the 80s, a DUI meant you never drove ever again. You never heard of the Japanese getting crap faced and then killing someone in a vehicle.
