I suggest sticking to the 02 or 26 fields (as they're the intel jobs) if you were thinking of intel specialist. Have they mentioned the Defense Language Aptitude Battery yet, or at all, rather?

Actually they have not mentioned that test at all? And yes I really did wanna do intel but the reserve units near by where I live don't have that job open, and the recruiter suggested electro optic ordnance repair but I wanted a job that would get me in the feild more and he suggested feild wireman.

If they have a Comm unit nearby, see if they have 0651 data slots open. It's one of the more technical MOS's and will set you up pretty well on the civilian side. I got a lot of certifications that are very valuable in the real world.

You want something that's a little challenging. You have a pretty high ASVAB and you'll probably get bored as a wireman. And you wanting to be out in the field is a phase everyone goes through as a poolee. It'll pass.

I'm a Technical Controller and I work in a wire shop (they don't know where else to put us).

Old school wireman just ran wire and buried cable. If you are in the Wing like me, wireman do a lot more. They program the DEOS and VX, which run phones. It's quite technical; that said once they are done programming, they just watch movies (like all of comm).

Data is more technical for sure. Data is easier to pick up rank versus wire, but it probably doesn't matter because you're a reservist.

Or you can be a 2821 like me, and manage the entire network: phones, satcom, data, multiplexing. If you search 2821 you'll find a big write-up I did.

But ya, wire is considered one of the lower jobs, you'll end up working with a lot of rocks. Every shop has rocks though.
