[FONT="Georgia"][FONT="Georgia"]I've chosen my MOS and my ship date is exactly 27 days from when I posted this. I will begin Recruit Training at MCRD San Diego on 01/10/2011.
The MOS I chose is a 5 year term of enlistment for Infantry.
From what I know so far, after graduation I will be assigned to an ITB (Infantry Training Battalion) at the SOI-West. While assigned to this ITB in Camp Pendleton, I will receive my training for 0313-LAV Crewman.
It will be interesting to say the least. I am extremely excited for what will become of me while in Recruit Training (possibly graduate Platoon/Company Honorman?) and my MOS school.
I'm guessing after SOI and if the unit I'm with is sent to MCMWTC Bridgeport or MCAGCC 29 Palms for further training, I'll be either a Marine in 1st LAR or 3rd LAR.
Right now, it's tough for me to professionally explain why I chose Marine Infantry. I'm gunning NOT to be the typical "Grunt".
Any feedback on these questions are appreciated.
-How accurate are my facts?
-Any suggestions for "Grunt" style PT?
-West Side Marines. Plus and downsides for being stationed at 29 Palms vs. MCB Camp Pendleton? (1st LAR vs. 3rd LAR)?
-Tips on blousing boots and squaring away foot locker?
-How throughly is MCMAP instructed at SOI?
-How to avoid getting IT-ed?
